Types of Term Footwear

Term Footwear is an award winning UK brand, making stylish boots and shoes for healthy feet. The brand was established by a British firm, working from children’s footwear companies in the UK since 2021, with joining forces with several experienced UK designers to create unique shoes for healthy feet. From being a small business in 2021, the brand is now expanding into a number of markets around the world. The brand also offers parents a range of ‘baby friendly’ range of footwear that are perfect for those kids who are just starting to learn to walk or have just started to wear shoes. The brand designs are often inspired by the characters shown on TV cartoon shows such as Winnie the Pooh, A Mummy and Baby Loony Loves Me. The designs may seem a little childish to some, but you will see that each design really does help your baby to stand out and look great. http://termfootwear.bravesites.com/#builder

The basic Term Footwear range consists of three main categories; Sandals, Wedges and Mules. Each has a number of different designs to choose from, which all adhere to strict fashion guidelines set by the brand. However, the main three categories do differ slightly.

Sandals are lightweight sandals which are generally made using rubber or plastic soles. The outer sole of these sandals is usually cushioned, to ensure a perfect balance. Ideal for young children, as they can easily slip off and on, sandals are also ideal for outdoor activities. The toe of the wedge portion of the footwear may have a raised lip, which helps prevent the child’s toes slipping off the surface.

Wedges are flexible mid-calf boots which have a tapered upper and back and are usually made from canvas or leather. The inner sole of the footwear is made from textured canvas, giving the shoes great grip. They have a textured upper surface, which gives traction. However, the most popular design for these shoes is the cuffed upper. With the cuffed upper, the wearer is able to maintain a balanced posture, thanks to the shape of the cuffed upper surface. Cuffing has long been recognised as a good posture correction method.

Mules are traditionally loafers, however, they are manufactured in a range of new materials, such as suede and PVC. The loafers are designed to offer stability and support to the foot, whilst providing a degree of bite for the wearer. They have overlapping heels, which allow for easier walking. The uppers of the footwear are generally made from the same material as the loafers, meaning that any problems with rubbing together, such as lumps and bumps, will be less likely. Most mules now feature an extra collar, which acts to prevent the footwear from slipping off the foot.

Mules are available in two main forms: upper and lower. The upper is normally made from leather, canvas or suede, providing extra grip and comfort. The lower sole has a rubber outer sole, which stops the footwear from slipping on slippery surfaces. These shoes are often used in public places such as restaurants, libraries and shops.

Equestrian boots are specifically designed for the active horse rider. The footwear features a high traction sole, which prevents the rider from slipping on muddy pathways. This type of footwear also features a non-slip upperset. The uppers are usually constructed of high quality leather, which is highly flexible. Horse riders are recommended to use specialist boots, rather than ‘street’ or ‘free’ boots, due to the risk of ankle injuries associated with their normal footwear.

A Term Footwear boot is normally manufactured using a composition leather upperset. A thick leather upper is combined with rubber inner soles to provide maximum strength and support. Most often, this upper includes spikes to give additional gripping ability.
